Sunset Homes: a stunning home by architect Roger Lee

Nestled on a tree-studded slope, this house is organized into two clearly separated areas-one for living and one for sleeping. A central hall makes it possible to move easily and directly from the entry to any of the rooms. An outdoor route for moving between rooms is provided by a deck that begins in front and ends at the rear at the upper level of the lot.

The deck, with its solid rail, and the street-side face of the house, almost blank except for high windows, combine to give the house privacy from the street without blocking the view. The living-dining-kitchen area of the house looks out at the view of the mountains, but is partly open and partly under louvered shade. This whole area is conveniently handy to the kitchen.

The area in the upper right hand corner of the floor plan provides for a later addition of a bedroom. It would also take hall space from the study adding a gallery hall and creating a court.
