Sunset Homes: a house that opens to gardens | architect Frank Slavsky
Sliding wall panels or louvered shutters can open the rooms of this house or close them off from the weather. Even when closed, rooms are well ventilated. On a subdivision lot with no view, the house is private from the street and close neighbors, but not forbidding. Its entry promises beauty within; its inner garden world fulfills the promise.
In Hawaii, this house makes sense with its open design and provision for ventilation. On the mainland, where your house can't be completely open, you can use its basic idea if you add glass and heating.
