Fawcett Homes: The Squire | Garlinghouse design

THIS CHARMER is appropriately named: Everything about it is squire-size. It has a huge living room, separate dining room, big kitchen, four over-sized bedrooms with unusually large closets, two bathrooms, a massive double garage, workshop and laundry on ground level, and a full basement. Despite its regal air, however, it is not as costly to build as you might think. The designer has incorporated many features such as the basically simple rectangular exterior and the economical bathroom arrangement-that achieve his purpose of keeping construction costs down.

Some long-tested building materials are used on the exterior: cedar roof shingles, horizontal siding, brick in a random face arrangement, and shutters to dress up the Colonial-type double-hung windows.
