THIS SOUTHERN PLANTATION colonial design is by Architect Lucian Hood, and built by the Pabst Corporation at 5147 Jackwood.
The exterior is old pink brick with a front porch offset by six white columns. Perfect balance is achieved by a bay window on each side of the porch and double entry doors with two floor length windows on each side.
The modified L-shape floor plan has a large entry hall, dining room and living room, den, patio, kitchen, master bedroom, guest bedroom and a third bedroom to be used as a study, breezeway and two-car garage.
Called the "General Electric House," it has GE air-conditioning and in the kitchen, GE wall refrigerator and deep freeze, oven and range top with barbecue pit, automatic washer and dryer, dishwasher and disposer-all colored in yellow.
The kitchen and den are both paneled, with beamed ceilings. The master bedroom opens onto the patio and also to the covered breezeway to the garage.
The home is furnished by Christmas Furniture Company in early American with a few formal pieces.
J. Pabst, owner of Pabst Corporation, builders of Blue Ribbon Homes, is a native of Galveston and came to Houston after World War II. He is a partner in the lumber and building business with his wife, the former Betty Twist, and Houstonian Wilbur Moore.
