THE CONTEMPORARY HOME at 5122 Jackwood was built by Paul H. Wolf and designed by Womack and Mount.
The exterior is of oversize used brick in a grayish cast with vertical texture siding painted a weather gray.
A brick wall extends across the front, broken by a gable and high windows. The main entrance lies at the end of a long, narrow "porch" area on the left of the house. To the front are the three bedrooms and two baths and to the back the living area, and garage. The living room and family room stretch across the house and join a terraced patio through glass sliding doors. The patio is covered with corrugated plastic. To the left of the living room is the dining area, which opens onto the kitchen. The all electric American Kitchen has a built-in oven, range, dishwasher and disposer. It has a vinyl plastic floor and is panneled in natural birch.
The family room is also birch paneled. The kitchen has an entrance to the two-car garage, which also houses the utility room.
The bedroom wing is completely separate from the living area and has a hall leading to the bedrooms and baths. The hall also has a disappearing stairway leading to an attic with an additional 200 square feet of floor space.
The home has insulated walls and ceilings and is air-conditioned with a Bryant unit. It is furnished by Keenan Furniture Company.
Wolf is immediate past president of the Houston Home Builders Association. A graduate of Rice Institute, he is an architect as well as builder, and designed and built some of the city's outstanding homes in Tanglewood, River Oaks, Post Oak Plaza, Timbercrest, and other additions.
