THE PARADE HOME at 5115 Jackwood is sponsored by American Builder Magazine, a national publication in the building field.
It was built by G. A. Fraser from a design by architect Robert Maurice. Norman Maxson and Associates of Chicago are consulting architects to American Builder Magazine on the house.
The exterior is of pink brick with redwood trim painted weather gray. The front entrance is back from the street, designed to isolate the living area from street noise. A spacious living room, has a double fireplace, the back of which is a steak grill for the outside living area. A unique faeture of the living room is the use of copper luster wallpaper, which blends attractively with the pink brick fireplace. This indoor living section opens through glass sliding doors onto a covered outdoor living area.
The kitchen has birch cabinets, an antique copper finished built-in oven and a built-in deep freeze and refrigerator. A continuous strip of windows runs along the ceiling line of the kitchen for maximum ventilation and light.
To the left of the foyer is the bedroom wing which has two bedrooms, two baths and a study. The master bedroom has its own bath. The rear bedroom opens onto the outdoor living area.
Ceilings throughout the house are sloping, following the pitch of the roof and creating an illusion of greater spaciousness.
The home is air conditioned with a Chrysler Airtemp.
