This beautiful lakeside house from Seattle was the property of Mr. Joe Chandlers. The architecture firm responsable with the project is Mithun, Ridenour and Cochran. The architects designed a relaxed, informal house with lots of windows towards the lake but sheltered from wind and neighbors.
(Above) The long covered walkway from carport to the house makes the home seem much bigger/ The concrete pilings underneath protect the house from flooding when the lake is unusually high. (Below) The living and the bedroom behind the shoji share the view.
Family room and kitchen are combined in one big, sunny room. When Mrs. Chandler works at the counter and sink, she can look right out over lake. The dutch door opens directly to the terrace and makes serving even large numbers of guests easy.
JoAnn Chandler likes to read or enjoy the sun on the deck outside the family room. Imaginative design treatment of the walls makes her hardly conscious of where the room stops and outdoors begins.
