A lovely 1958 modern brick facade house from Tampa, Florida. Plans included!
This house is distinctive in its small-house bigness. By attaching a roofed walk and connecting fence to carport, it appears twice its real size. Windows form exterior walls of the living and dining rooms - a visual boost in space as well as view and light. Outdoor living is sheltered and private, with the larger terrace between the house and carport.
House is 28 feet at widest point. With carport and covered walk, it spans 73 feet on its lot - an impressive frontage for a really small house (it's just 1.269 square feet). Old brick and board-and-batten siding in weathered gray stain are balanced in almost formalpattern across front.
Entry-dining partition continues outdoors to fence terrace. Boards are fastened on alterante sides of posts to achieve pattern, ventialtion. Terrace bricks are laid in vertical and horizontal sections.
Old brick is exposed inside as well as out. Divider (right) is what guests view from entrance - rather than looking directly into living room.
Yellow, orange, beige, white are set off against dark backgrounds. Upkeep's easy with terrazzo floors, striated-plywood walls, marble-topped tables, fabrics like pandanus cloth.
