A 1957 small house from North Carolina that sits atop of a small waterfall. Plans provided!

Year is 1957. The elderly couple of Mr. and Mrs. Wade C. Lewis fron North Carolina decided to move into a new, smaller house in the woods. The house has a smooth and compact design, but the most interesting part is the small stream with a waterfall that flows underneath it.

From this end, house shows and exterior of dignified simplicity, quietly in keeping with the beauty of surroundings. Evenly spaced series of sill-to-eave fixed glass brings a view of outdoors inside. Vertical siding is 6-inch redwood paneling. Features which keep house cool: louvers in gable end to admit constant flow of air, built-up roof of sun-reflecting white marble chips.

Looking from living room - dining and kitchen to right - you see full-time role porch plays in Lewises' living. It's where they eat most meals - spring through fall. It's private - quiet enough for an afternoon siesta. It can "take it" from visiting grandchildren, with ship-deck floor, fiber rug, durable redwood furniture. Floor can be hosed off since it's pitched slightly to each side.
