Mengel bedroom furniture for 1950

When we talk about designer furniture we must talk about Mengel Company and Raymond Loewy. Mengel started in 1877 as a lumber company expanding in the production of whiskey barrels and tobacco boxes and further into toys, windows, door and car frames.

Right after WW2 Raymond Loewy - "the father of industrial design" is brought onboard to design furniture and this is how the company established itself as an icon for the mid-century modern era.

Today we are going to take a look at some bedroom furniture from the year 1950, starting with Gold Coast Mahogany. A modernized 18th century group in hand-rubbed mahogany veneers.

Next we have the century group in dove grey walnut and modern lines, the ivory bisque oak and the winthrop group of solid mahogany, inspired by the colonial spirit.
