Sunset Homes: a house designed by Bennie M. Gonzales

Built with tile and burnt adobe, this house is a good example of the influence of territorial architecture on contemporary design.

The house and garden walls are burnt adobe with a light, off-white surface wash that helps to blend with desert and mountains. Floors throughout the house are 13% by 8 by 12-inch clay tile. Tiled awning-like devices over the windows help to cut out the sun and glare. Landscaping was kept to mainly native plants and rocks.
