The architect of this house made the most of the qualities of white, unbroken plaster areas to increase the apparent size of rooms. The rooms were already opened with a soaring, sloping ceiling above the only partition. High windows set in gable peaks further increased this spacious effect. Changes in level, of the ceiling over the entry and of the living room floor, provide a pleasing contrast of space and help define the limits of open areas.
