Plan no. C-9331

The picture accompanying this house plan illustrates perfectly how comfortable yet functional a contemporary house can be. It shows the dining room, drapes drawn across the three large windows, and planter-divider brimming with colorful blooms. This room, and any of the other rooms in the house, can easily accommodate any period of furniture-from strictly modern right down to the best from Grandma's attic! There is a nice big living room, too, with two beautiful windows at the front, and beautifully proportioned-which enables you to make comfortable furniture arrangements. A coat closet is shown next to the front entry. The kitchen is only a convenient step away from the dining room, and has been designed to suit an efficiency-minded modern housewife. The appliances and cupboards are ranged along two walls, there is plenty of counter-top work space, and there is a big window over the sink.

From the kitchen, stairs lead down to the full basement and a door opens on the spacious porch. If the fancy suits, this porch could very easily be screened or glassed in for year-round use and in any event it makes a very useful covered entry from the garage to the house. The garage, which has a big storage closet, also has a second door which opens on the front porch. The porch itself is decorated with a lattice for climbing vines and a stone planter that will hold seasonal plants matching those in the window box. There are three big bedrooms in this house, all with large closets and two with dual-exposure windows. On one side of the hall there is a nice linen closet and on the other side of the hall a complete bath with built-in tub and sink. The hand- some contemporary exterior, trimmed with stone, will look comfortably correct in any setting.
