IF IT IS TRUE that you can judge the quality of a house by its kitchen, as some architects contend, then the "Lakeland" is an unqualified beauty. Although it is a relatively small house and lends itself to economical construction, it has a magnificent eighteen foot kitchen. There is a huge Dutch oven, two large closets for the storage of food and cleaning equipment, space for a large family breakfast table, plenty of lighting, and a covered exit to the rear patio.
It also has all the basic features you would expect-three bedrooms, two baths, an attached garage and a full basement. And it has many distinctive characteristics as well. For example, the master bedroom has a private dressing room plus a large bathroom with twin vanities. The dining room has a large window wall in the rearrunning around to the side, and also has a door leading to the covered porch. The living room has a bowed window-a popu- lar feature of many homes in the luxury class. Because of the location of the raised Dutch fireplace in the kitchen, it is possible to install a fireplace in back of it-facing the living room-at only slight additional cost. There can be an intimate furniture arrangement around the hearth. The entrance foyer is large and directly adjacent to it is a guest closet. All the bedrooms will accommodate twin beds and have two or more closets. The garage has a rear entrance to the covered porch and may be reached from dining room or kitchen.
The exterior is an attractive combination of vertical siding, brick and wood shingles. The continuous roof line makes the house appear much larger than it really is.
