A GRACIOUS EARLY AMERICAN ranch type home with an exterior of redwood and cedar shakes with brick trim is on parade at 5155 Jackwood. Built by S. E. McCrory and J. G. Baldwin of McBal Construction Co., it was designed by architects Dunaway and Jones.
The courtyard porch covers the main entry way and also the driveway to the double garage. The entrance foyer has a brick wall with ranch plank flooring.
The living room and family room flow together, joined by a beam ceiling. The family room opens onto a large enclosed patio which can be used as an outdoor family room. It is landscaped and made private by means of a brick wall on one side and redwood fence on the other.
The kitchen has a Westinghouse built-in oven and range, a combination built-in refrigerator and deep freeze, one on top of the other, an automatic washer and dryer, dishwasher and disposer.
The bedroom wing of the home is completely private. The master bedroom has large windows overlooking the patio and its own bath. The outer bath lies directly off the hall and can be used as a guest bathroom. The middle room is paneled in birch and the front bedroom has large windows and double closets.
Builders McCrory and Baldwin have been in the lumber and building business in Houston for the past 12 years. They operate the Turley Lumber Co. as well as the McBal Construction Company. Construction of their parade home was directed by F. L. Woods, Jr.
