A MODERN HOME designed specifically for space conservation and modern indoor-outdoor living is the model by Frank Ogren at 5135 Jackwood.
It is designed by James Johnson and combines many new living features.
The outstanding characteristic of the home is its combination living, dining and family room, a large (15 by 26 feet) room at the front of the house. It opens through glass sliding doors onto a spacious terraced patio.
The entire home is enclosed, including the patio and has complete privacy by means of horizontal windows. throughout. It has a sloping roof with exposed beam ceilings in all rooms. The exterior has an expanse of Harmony stone with a shallow glass gable across the front and two wrought iron gates, one at the entry way to the left and a larger one at the driveway to the right. The stone is in rich green tone and is trimmed with vertical V-joint siding.
The living area has a ranch plank oak floor and is paneled in primavera, a lovely South American blond wood. A serving bar separates this section from the kitchen.
The all-electric kitchen features new Revco built-ins, including refrigerator and deep freezer, copper oven and range, dishwasher, and Waste King dis- poser. It has a Texolite sink and drainboard and is lighted by recessed spotlights.
The master bedroom has a large walk-in closet and built-in chest and cabinets. The second bedroom is paneled and features indirect lighting. A new concept in bathroom decorating is the use of plastic walls, floors and vanity top.
Air-conditioning is by Bryant. The home is furnished by Stowers in modern.
Mr. Ogren has built in Houston for 15 years. He has built homes in Tanglewood, Robindell, Afton Oaks and other Houston additions. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Houston Home Builders Association.
