1955 - Max Factor makes the make-up used on CBS productions, available to all women
In the spring of 1955 Max Factor made the make-up used on CBS productions, available to all women under the name Hi-Fi. The target was to achieve subtle, delicate gradations of color that will make the natural skin tone come vibrantly alive.
This new idea in color for make-up was developed to fill an urgent need created by color television. Existing colros in make-ups appeared harsh, unflattering, unnatural. And Max Factor created for exclusive use by CBS, the new concept in make-up colors, a concept which faithfully reproduced natural skin tones that stay smooth and radiant under the most glaring light.
The versions for the public cost $1.75 plus tax (make-up) and $1,25 rouge plus tax.
