The fantastic U.S. Embassy building in RIO - an outstanding building bearing the signature of Wallce Harrison
In 1953, in Rio, the new U.S. Embassy building was inaugurated. A grillwork of glass windows ablaze with light making it a landmark of the city. Located on President Wilson Avenue, this lovel structure was designed by the firm of Harrison and Abramovitz - Wallace Harrison was chief architect for Rockefeller Center and U. N. Building in New York.
It is brzil's first all air-conditioned building. In addition to offices, it has a cafeteria, movie theater and apartments on the two top floors for embassy staff. The small annex in front is a library. There are 27.000 sq. ft. of green-blue glass windows.
