A gorgeous 1951 split level from Highland Park Illinois. Plans provided

This lovely property was owned by Maxine and Tom Friedman of Highland Park Illinois. The building was designed by the Friedmans themselves. Brick and cedar shingle roof contrast perfectly with the smoothness of glass and easy to keep up natural cedar siding. Interiors have a color scheme just as natural as the exterior.

The garage comes in at a street level, but the bedroom under its gently sloping roof is only eight steps above lot level at the house, which is slightly above street level.

Rich colors of cypress beams, cedar ceiling and dark walls create a warm, cozy living room.

Dinign area is the connecting link between living and service areas. On hall side, partition has rack and deep shelves for plants and books.

Only bedroom is over the garage, but because of the split-level plan it seems close to the ground. Large windows let in light when draperies are pulled.
