Programmed for the end of 1950, the first tv broadcast in color was delayed until 25th june 1951
On november 20, 1950 CBS announced the public that there's only a week left until the first tv broadcast in color, even showing some behind the scenes. After years of experiment, months of hearings, scandals and controversy, the Federal Communications Commission has decided that CBS's "field sequential" system is practical, of good quality and ought to be made available to the public at once.
But things didn't went as planned. At that time only 200 out of the 8 million tv sets in the american homes were in color. And a converter was between 75 and 100$.
And there was also RCA who went to court and obtained a temporary victory and the first tv broadcast in color was delayed untill 25th june 1951.
Here's a behind the scene with Patti Painter - actres and model ( Miss Miss Color Television).
