Fawcett Homes: The Overlord | Garlinghouse design

ARCHITECTS agree that when a lot slopes, the most suitable house is usually a split-level design which con- forms to the terrain. When you adjust the house to the site, you generally save on the cost of excavation, foundation, land fill and grading, and you usually get a finished product that looks more attractive.

The Overlord is a side-to-side split-level designed for a lot that slopes from side to side. On the low side, there is a double garage with all-purpose room behind it. On the high side is the living room, dining room, and kitchen. Up half a flight of stairs, you are on the bedroom level. Here there are four large bedrooms, all with ample closet space, and two bathrooms with economical back-to-back plumbing. One bathroom can be used in privacy by the occupants of the master bedroom, and the other by all family members.
