THIS THREE-BEDROOM house is aptly named. You see designs like it in large suburban developments throughout the country. It is popular because it provides all that young families want in a house at a price they are generally able to afford. The Suburbanite has a rear living room that's designed for indoor-outdoor living with the maximum of privacy. The rear wall is almost entirely of glass. It provides an unobstructed view of the yard and gives you the feeling that your living room extends onto the terrace. Rear placement of the 25-foot living-dining area means that the kitchen has a street-side location. It serves as a real control point. The housewife is only a few steps from the entrance foyer, from another entrance by the side of the garage, and from the stairs to the basement. A good corner window arrangement enables her to keep in touch with what's going on outside at all times. There are 36 square feet of window area in the kitchen-about three times as much as is necessary to light a room of these dimensions. So it is always bright and cheery.
The covered front entrance opens onto a central foyer. The living room is directly ahead; to the left is a center hall off which there are three bedrooms and a bathroom with a desk-vanity table and a recessed tub. The master bedroom has a large dressing alcove and a connecting private bath. One of the other bedrooms has a feature rarely found today-its own fireplace.
Numerous built-ins are incorporated in this design: China storage area in the dining room, bookcase and plywood cabinet in living room, plant-box in the foyer.
