We feel this small house makes excellent use of its 836 square feet of living space (not including the utility-garage portion of 260 square feet, which would cost less to build). The 24-foot depth from front to rear permits a pleasant vista through glass wall of dining room. You may prefer a door between it and the kitchen, which no doubt would be open most of the time. Therefore we have placed a louvred folding screen attached to the wall to form some separation when desired, and to hide the refrigerator.
The kitchen is attractive with one wall of brick. Can you picture it painted white, or any color, with copper kettles hung against it?
A deep chest for linen helps to separate dining from living space. It is detailed in the plans, and you may turn it as shown, or place the long side against wall. (See sketch.)
This house has no basement. It can be built on a concrete slab or over crawl space. The structure is 44 feet wide, and 24 to 26 feet deep.
There is nothing to prevent building the house without the built-in features. You may want to build them at a later time, and you'll find it convenient then to have the plans for them.
Exterior is of concrete blocks with stucco over. Hip roof has wide overhang.
