Your new homes: when your plot is narrow
Here is a fine "first house" for a small family. Its trim lines are just right for the narrow plot of land you may own; without the garage, it can be built on a 40' lot. With the garage shown, a 50' lot would do. The side entrance, so well screened from the street here, was traditional in Colonial days. For economy, the kitchen, bath and utility units are in a line, with the latter room acting as a vestibule between back entrance and house.
Despite the compactness of this house, there are seven closets, including one tremendous storage room for the whole family. Note the corner windows with "gliding sash" in each bedroom, and the large fireplace in the living-dining area. Comfortable inside and trim outside, this is a house that would be an asset to any neighborhood.
