This house is an elegant affair located on the shore of Puget Sound in Washington. It is full of ideas for bringing the interior into contact with the house site. A raised ceiling section has clerestory windows on all four sides to bring daylight into the living room. The water-facing windows have a deep overhang to cut afternoon glare, and a deck so the owners can be outside even on stormy days. There is no railing between the deck and the beach just a jump below. Pilings add flavor and protection to the site: Architects: Kirk, Wallace, McKinley, A.I.A., and Associates.
