A production Vought F6U-1 Pirate is seen here in final assembly on the company's newly established production line at Grand Prairie, near Dallas. Of the two lines that are now in operation, one turns out Pirates, the other, F4U-5 Corsairs. Note Pirate's easily accessible nose section, also extended fuselage dive brakes aft of wing trailing edge.
