A compact home designed by architect John van der Meulen

This house is planned as a convenient living unit and is also planned for economy of construction cost. It has the features that distinguish a good plan: a central hall from which all rooms may be reached without crossing other rooms; ample closet storage space; large windows on private grounds, small windows and privacy on the street side; a sizable and convenient kitchen which provides room for family dining. It is a house with a basement, reached through the kitchen. The narrow strip of windows floods a hallway with light, and provides cross ventilation for the living room.
