BH&G Five Star Home #2704

 

Garage is two panels wide, 27 1/2 feet deep. It's oversize so it can be used for storage or workshop. There're panel-wide windows in rear. Breezeway is open now, but under roof for eventual enclosure by 9-foot 8-inch panel sections. Area will give owners spacious family room or porch. Home costs less to build without a basement, but a greater reward is in the conveneince of ground level laundry, heating, storage room. Few families need as much space as usual basement provides; utility room is more efficient. 

Five Star Home 2704 is a house of many ideas that apply in dozens of ways to assure the builder that his house will he in keeping with houses built in years to come. It's a panel-built house. Exterior walls are built in a series of identical-size sections. Each section is 9 feet 8 inches wide, all partitions are built on a module. Post-and-beam construction was used with the panels. This allows free use of space since interior walls are not needed to support the roof. Posts left exposed, frame panels of glass and plywood. It's easier, less costly to expand with post, beam, and panel system. New space is enclosed by adding more posts and beams on panel module at either end of house. 


Five Star 2704 from rear shows variety possible in use of modular panels painted plywood, plywood and glass, all glass. Posts and beams outline each section. Living-dining area has glassed panels. South sun heats this big room during winter months, while roof overhang cuts off summer sun.
