BH&G Five Star Home #2405

This simple and compact house was designed by architect Louis Huebner for Mr. Dean Wessels. The living-dining and bedrooms-study wings are separated by the 8x12 kitchen.

Lying space in this home is planned to tempt the imagination as to what lies beyond each area. 'Though the actual total area is small, abundant use of glass adds the outdoors to space inside. Open planning is made possible through post and beam a simplified method of construction. Load-hearing walls inside are not necessary. Rooms or activities can be freely organized without chopping the limited space into hopeless cubicles.

Living room has open feeling even on streetside wall. Large, hopper-type windows are shoulder high so there is privacy and light. White plank ceiling continues through to overhang outside. It reflects daylight in through strip glass between beams to brighten whole room. Fireplace opens to living, dining areas.
