BH&G Five Star Home #1705

Broad chimney, wood-shingle roof, and wide -clapboard siding combine to form a pleasing exterior. For economy, the architect laid out the house on a 26-foot square.

The one-bedroom home is economical for childless couples or for those whose children have grown and gone. The plan for the house shown here includes a living room, kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom arranged with as little waste space as possible. Alcove at the left end of living room is an ideal place for studio bed for guests. A bay window lets in light from the streetside, windows in each end of the room introduce additional light and ventilation. That's a big advantage of small homes they're usually light and airy. The kitchen is compactly arranged in three sections service, working, and eating areas. There's a utility closet in the kitchen, "put-away" storage space in the attic, a linen closet in the hall, and a large wardrobe closet in the bedroom.
