A house architect William R. Jenkins of Houston, Texas built for himself
This is a simple, yet elegant house with 10-foot-high walls and windows. It has a clean rectangular shape with projecting wings of carport, entry and terrace. Inside freestanding storage cabinets act as partitions - combining their purpose to their location. Architect William R. Jenkins of Houston, Texas designed and built it for himself and his family.

Carport and entry are combined in this trim design. Shelter for car up front means luxurious canopy for entry as well. Forward thrust gives visual relief to the simple rectangular plan.

Windows serve as passageways as well as openings for view and ventialtion. Jenkins used glass sufficiently large in the living and family rooms to become important balancing element in the exterior design. It also brings about a pleasant contrast to the uniformity of brick.

Jenkins wanted breezy spot to relax, but planned from start to extend house roof over patio to beta hot Texas sun. Result is, this cool, covered patio.
