1958 | BH&G Five Star Home #2809-F

This is a compact 1958 entry-court house from California, situated on a narrow lot. The car shelter was moved around the front. On the rear there is space for a lovely terrace and garden, with large living and family rooms turn broad glass walls in that direction. Kitchen's in the center of things; bedrooms have a wing to themselves. Utility room could provide space for basement stairs if needed.

Ceiling of living room follows high-peaked roof; it makes room seem much more spacious. Entire area opens to terrace beyond. Cool grays and greens of interior contrast with bright outdoor scene; roof overhang and grid shiedls room fron sun's glare.

Central kitchen squeezes a lot of features into small dimensions. There's an informal breakfast bar along near side of divider wall. This room can serve as a family-fun area or for formal company suppers. Sliding glass doors connect with terrace, as does the living room on the other side of the kitchen.

Walkaway from front of house leads to this handsome back-yard terrace. Glass-walled living room helps indoors and out to work as one. Kitchen command post overlooks yard. Paved terrace could be grassy back lawn. Grid shades windows from afternoon sun, makes house seem lower. Stucco and brick add interest to end wall.
