This beautiful mid-century modern structure opened in 1960 as the world's most completely electronic hotel offering. The hotel had closed-circuit TV, swimming pool and a roof-top ice skating rink. The hotel had 403 rooms and a garage for no less than 450 cars, the 12-story side-wing was dedicated to office space. It was the first hotel in San Francisco to have air-conditioning. After the 1983 fire it was rebuilt, but after 2009 it stayed vacant untill it was demolished in 2013.
