
Artists conception of completed Northrop X8-35 Flying Wing shows unusually smooth aspect of AAF's latest very-heavy bomber. Powered by four 3,500-hp.-plus P6W Wasp Majors turning 8-blade coaxial Hamilton Standard Superhydromafic props, craft is stated to hay. 10,000-mi.-plus range. Remote-control gun turrets are fitted in center section and both above and below 172 ff. wing.

One of early 60-ft. experimental Northrop NMI flying models used to fest Hying characteristics of all-wing bomber. Starting with N114. over a dozen of these little craft were built and flown.

When partially finished, X8.35 was wheeled outside to be turned around for positioning at wood assembly stage. In center section may be noted portion of pressurized crew compartment (named "stinger"), also propeller-shaft nacelles.
