While most of the people remind of Mary Martin as Peter Pan in the 1954 hit, or as Maria von Trapp in The Sound of Music - 1959, she started on Broadway in 1938 "Leave It to Me!", the next year she starts appearing in radio shows - The Tuesday Night Party on CBS 1939, NBC's Good News/Maxwell House Coffee Time of 1940, etc.
She became a country-wide star after the hit song "My Heart Belongs to Daddy".
She would later became the mother of beloved actor Larry Hagman.
