Three Columbia Pictures beauties from 1956

Miserable isn't the word for these misses. They are all Hollywood actresses, just starting on their way to success and enjoying every minute of it. But each worries about being east in roles foreign to her own true self. In these triple exposures taken by John Engstead each girl is photographed in a wooden frame. first as Columbia Pictures sees her, then in a spinning change and finally as she fancies her real self to be. Columbia sees the British actress Valerie French (left) as the Ava Gardner sort, rumpled and short-fused, and has so cast her in forthcoming Jabal. But Valerie spins into the sophisticated type she thinks she is. The big brown eyes of Felicia Farr (center), a New Yorker also in Jubal, persuaded Columbia she was a good, sweet girl. But Felicia is a Paris Apache, all fire. Victoria Shaw (right), an Australian soon to be seen in The Eddie Duchin Story, seems to Columbia the elegant Grace Kelly type. Victoria, however, wants to be a warmhearted lover of the great outdoors. This is all sad, but in the meantime money is a consolation.
