Because Paddy Chayefsky is the most celebrated of the young TV play. wrights, any new play he does draws a television audience as expectant and as critical as any attending a Broadway opening. On a recent Television Playhouse (NBC.TV) Chayefsky's latest work, The Catered Affair, a troubled account of a young Bronx couple's wedding preparations, was served up for nationwide appraisal. It was flawed in places, but it contained new evidence that Chayefsky is already a major theatrical talent.
