The Pacific's Theatre Cinerama Dome is one of the few Cinerama structures that still stands. It opened on November 7, 1963. Designed by architect Pierre Cabrol ,Welton Becket & Associates; this googie building was the first concrete geodesic dome theater in the world.
At the construction starting ceremony there were quite a number of stars present: Spencer Tracy, Buddy Hackett, Mickey Rooney, Dick Shawn, Edie Adams, and Dorothy Provine.
The first movie to run was also a world premier: the first movie filmed in the new 70mm, single strip Cinerama process - It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World.
