The fantastic 1938 Whitehead & Kales car hauler


This type of truck-tractor and trailer combination wass being used widely in the late 30s in the U.S. for delivering automobiles from the factory to the dealer. Localities several hundreds of miles from the factory were servived economically in this fashion. The trailer shown above carries two cars inside and two on the roof. With cab-over-engine tractor, the outfit has length of 40 ft., overall width of 96 in. and loaded height of 12 ft. 6 in.  Trailer was built by Whitehead & Kales Co., River Rouge, Mich.
