The Portland (Oregon) public market

This beautiful art deco building was made out of concrete, being designed by Lawrence, Holford Allyn and Bean architects. It opened in 1933.

This large shopping center also had a gas station, rooftop parking, and a 500-seat auditorium. In 1943 was leased to the U. S. Navy, being sold in 1946 to a newspaper company (The Journal). In 1961 the company vacated the place and the building remained empty until 1968 when it was purchased by the city of Portland and sadly, demolished in 1969.
