This interesting split level house hase three secluded bedrooms at the top level, main living area on the middle level and the family room on the bottom level.
Architects: Compton and Pierce of Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The smartly pitched tar-and-gravel roof comes to a peak between the two front bedrooms on the top level. The long, low roof line and straight line of windows work together to unify all three levels. Using only one material - the simple vertical siding - makes the effect even more harmonious. Inside the brick fireplace and entry divider was kept low in order to let the gable window continue clear across the room. Guest closet in the entry opens from the other side of the divider.
