This globe, one of the largest in the world, is 10 feet in diameter, weighing 6,500 pounds. One sixty-fourth of an inch on the globe represents one mile. The greatest ocean depth, 24,000 feet, would be only one tenth of an inch below the surface. The highest point in the stratosphere reached by man. 72,000 feet, would be only a fifth of an inch above the surface.
The Seattle Freeway provides motorists with a sparkling view of Seattle, largest city in the Northwest quarter of America. The new Interstate Highway was constructed by Department of Highways engineers and contractors, who met many challenges during the construction. The route of the Freeway through Seattle was chosen partly to avoid obstructing the view of the waterfront and to take motorists quickly to the heart of the city.
