Most houses and all "A" frames except ours have have a framing skeleton, consisting of studs, rafters, joists, collar ties or trusses and bracing. On to this, framing sheathing is applied, to receive the shingles. If the house is to be finished inside, lining must also be applied on the inside to hide the ugly rafters, studs and bracing. Insulation is then inserted in the cavity for warmth. The Lindal "A" Frame makes use of ordinary 2x8 planks to serve many functions at once, and thus save the cost of the skeleton framing. These planks serve as studs, rafters, roof sheathing, inside finish and insulation. Not only is the expensive skeleton saved but also the labor of erection of the skeleton. The result is a very functional building at an incomparable low cost.
