The Washington Blvd. entrance to COBO HALL in Detroit's Civic Center. Designed by Giffels & Rossetti, this building was the largest exhibit hall in the U. S.
This bus terminal, located in downtown Detroit adjacent to the Civic. Center and shopping areas, is equipped with the most modern facilities. Included are: dining room, cafeteria, coffee shop, drug store, bar, rest rooms, parking areas, and modern lounge and waiting room.
The new main office of National Bank of Detroit is devoted exclusively to banking. This modern building, of contemporary design and 14 stories high, is finished in white marble and stainless steel. In the foreground you see a portion of sculptor Marshall Fredericks' dramatic "Spirit of Detroit", located in front of the new City-County Building.
The spiral ramp on the right leads directly from the John C. Lodge Expressway to a roof-deck parking area convenient to all of Cabo Hall's facilities. The tall building on the left is the Penobscot Building, long a landmark in Detroit.
The sculpture "Spirit of Transportation" is the work of Carl Milles (1875-1955). This courtyard is located between the Washington Blvd. entrance to Cobo Hall and the Convention Arena.
